Dr. Mina Youssef
Dr. Mina Youssef

Owner/Veterinarian

For as long as he can remember, becoming a veterinarian has been Dr. Mina Youssef’s dream. He was raised around all kinds of pets and farm animals and never took for granted the happiness they brought him. Now, Dr. Youssef has achieved his goal and is the owner of his own practice, North Star Animal Hospital!

Dr. Youssef was born and raised in Egypt and attended veterinary medical school in Cairo. After graduation, he moved to the United States and attended the University of Missouri until 2007, when he began working in general practice. Three years later, he transitioned into emergency medicine before opening North Star Animal Hospital on Valentine’s Day, 2014. Internal medicine cases are some of Dr. Youssef’s favorites—they can be quite challenging and truly test his skills! He’s also fond of dental work and seeing a pet’s overall health improve after an oral cleaning.

When he isn’t caring for pets at the clinic or spending time with his family and Ottah, his playful Siamese cat, Dr. Youssef enjoys playing tennis, swimming, and traveling.

Dr. Thomas Ramsey
Dr. Thomas Ramsey

Medical Director/Veterinarian

Dr. Thomas Ramsey has been a staple in the San Antonio veterinary community for over 30 years. He has been named “best veterinarian” by several local publications throughout the years. A graduate of Texas A&M University and Veterinary School in 1982 and 1984, respectively, he met his wife of 40 years while on an externship in New Mexico, where they still keep a residence today. Dr. Ramsey is a renowned surgeon specializing in orthopedics and is board-certified in acupuncture.

In his spare time, he enjoys competitive cycling, skiing, and fly fishing. He and his wife, Sally, have a 4-year-old mixed-breed dog named Taz that keeps them on their toes! Dr. Ramsey is the light that keeps our hospital shining, and he loves to help welcome you and your furry friends to our veterinary home!

Practice Manager

Jacqueline Padilla
Jacqueline Padilla

Practice Manager

Along with Dr. Youssef, Jacqueline started North Star 410 Animal Hospital in September 2023. Over the last 15 years, she has worked in every aspect of the veterinary field, including large animal, diagnostics, and emergency medicine. However, she found her passion for the business aspect of the industry after working at Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital with students seeking their veterinary medical degrees.

Jacqueline has worked diligently to make our hospital a place where clients and patients feel at home. Each staff member was chosen for their dedication to patient care and client communication, which is of the utmost importance to her. She has used her advanced knowledge in surgery and anesthesia to train our surgery techs in the most up-to-date pain management and post-surgical care techniques, which only add to our amazing surgery options.

Most of her spare time is dedicated to improvements in the hospital, but she does take time to travel with her fiancé, Zachery, and her dog, Oliver (who has become the hospital mascot).

Chelsea was born and raised in Laredo, TX, and has been intrigued by veterinary medicine ever since she was a little girl. In 2020, she moved to San Antonio to pursue a lifelong dream by attending PIMA Medical Institute, where she graduated with an associate’s degree in applied science as a veterinary technician. Chelsea has one dog named Bailey, an Australian Shepherd/Great Dane mix, who is as loving and outgoing as her owner.

At work, Chelsea has earned the reputation of being a ray of sunshine and was even nicknamed “Giggles” for a time. She has experience working in both emergency and general practice and has a deep love for her profession. One day, Chelsea hopes to own her own ranch and care for a variety of animals. One of her favorite quotes is from Spongebob Squarepants: “I don’t wanna grow up! I want cookies.”

Karen
Karen

Veterinary Technician

Karen Williams is the Hospital Safety Coordinator and Technician at North Star Animal Hospital 410. She has been in the veterinary industry since her first year of high school in 1987. Although she took a couple of breaks to bartend and attend school, Karen ultimately returned to her true passion.

Karen has been married for nearly 22 years and has one son. Her household includes two dogs, two rats, and A LOT of cats! Anyone want one?

In 2002, Karen and her family moved to Texas after finding it too expensive to live in Oregon, a place they still miss. While living in Oregon, they enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Now, in Texas, they consider themselves homebodies who work to take care of their pets. Karen feels fortunate that her love for animals has been passed on to her husband and son.

She looks forward to working with clients and their beloved pets and can’t wait to meet them.

This passion led Kim to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, earning an associate degree in applied science from PIMA Medical Institute. With a background in zoo medicine and emergency care, she is well-equipped to adapt to various situations and provide effective solutions for any animal under her care.

Outside of her professional life, Kim cherishes her role as a parent to her two wonderful kids and two beautiful Cane Corsos, who bring joy and companionship to her life. Letty
Letty

Veterinary Technician

Letty was born and raised in Mexico and has been passionate about animals since childhood. Her interest in veterinary medicine was sparked when she successfully treated a dog with dystocia despite having no formal knowledge of animal care at the time. This experience led her to pursue a veterinary degree at Veterinary College in Nuevo León, Mexico.

A devoted Chihuahua lover, Letty has a dog named Panfilo. She also enjoys working with all dogs at the clinic. Letty is especially excited to serve NorthStar 410 Animal Hospital’s Spanish-speaking clients, as Spanish is her first language. She takes great pleasure in helping and caring for them and their pets.

Lexie
Lexie

Veterinary Technician

Alexia, who goes by Lexie, was born in Anderson, Indiana, but considers herself to be from a little bit of everywhere, having grown up in a military family. Throughout her life, she has always loved animals and has had a deep passion for helping them. Although she knew she couldn’t save them all, she believed she could make a difference and save as many as possible by working in this field. Lexie has experience in both emergency and general practice.

Lexie has four animals of her own: Razz, a 6-year-old German Shepherd who is a big fluffy cuddle bug; Rufus, a 1-year-old Pitbull who shares Lexie’s energy and enthusiasm; Patty, a 4-year-old domestic shorthair cat who was the first to join her clan; and Klaus, a 3-year-old Siamese cat with plenty of attitude and confidence.

In her free time, Lexie enjoys baking, being outdoors, and spending time with her family, friends, and animals. She always knew she would end up helping animals in some way, but it wasn’t until she started that she realized it was exactly what she was meant to do. Lexie is grateful for the opportunity to help clients’ animals every day, treating them as if they were her own.

Renee
Renee

Veterinary Technician

Raised by her “Dr. Dolittle mom,” Renee has always had a deep passion for dogs. Her earliest memories are of her mom’s two Chihuahuas, Pedro and BC. The only time she didn’t have a dog was during her time in the military. In her thirties, while seeking a career change, Renee decided to work with dogs and became a basic obedience trainer. During her externship, she volunteered at a local shelter, where she fell in love with cats while continuing her obedience work.

Renee’s interest in animal behavior grew, and coupled with her love for medicine and science, she decided to transition to a veterinary assistant role. Throughout her career, Renee has gained experience in general practice, specialty care, and emergency services. She particularly enjoys client education and is currently the Lab, Pharmacy, and Inventory Coordinator.

At home, Renee has a Chihuahua mix named Oscar and a tortoiseshell cat who prefers to be called Chicken. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with Oscar.
